Fancy a website with your morning bacon roll?
Well, if you’re a tradesman (or woman) then you can get one built for free today or tomorrow by heading to the Shepherdess Cafe in Shoreditch.
The UK’s first ‘Bacon & Web’ cafe has been created by the .uk domain, run by Nominet. It’s the first of several opening up across the UK over the coming months as part of a campaign to get more tradespeople online.
And there’s a good reason for them to do so: research released this week shows that tradesmen and women with their own website pick up an additional 21 jobs a year, on average worth a massive £16,590.
Despite this, over 330,000 British tradespeople have yet to build their own site.
Russell Haworth, CEO Nominet, which runs the .uk domain said, “Moving from on site to website is giving a financial boost to tradespeople and up and down the country. With more of us going online to look for trade services, many plumbers and painters might find themselves losing out on business when consumers need expert help in a hurry. From displaying pictures of past jobs, to customer testimonials and accreditation badges, a website isn’t just your online CV, it’s your chance to make a great first impression.”
We’re delighted to be helping the .uk domain raise awareness of this important issue. Check out the full campaign details at www.tradebetteronline.uk.
