We work with both consumer and B2B brands, specialising in the technology, personal finance and sport sectors.
Here’s our story…
Nia Evans and Gareth Thomas founded Capella after becoming frustrated with how poorly many brands were treated by large PR agencies.
It bothered us that unless you were paying a six figure sum, you were ignored. We thought it was possible to marry big agency strategic thinking with the hunger, creativity and value of a smaller agency.
We were also cross that young people in larger agencies were often slow to recognise their potential, as they spent years doing menial tasks and were shielded from client strategy.
So, we quit our jobs and set up Capella in 2012… with no clients and no staff.
We called everyone we knew and persuaded a few of them to take a chance on an ambitious start-up, then we set about weaving together traditional and digital communications into creative campaigns for our first clients. From the outset we prided ourselves on keeping our promises to both clients and staff.
And we must be doing something right. Today, we’re a 16-strong team working with more than 20 amazing clients, including some of the UK’s hottest technology, personal finance, and sport brands. We have twice won small agency of the year, as well as being nominated or winning many awards for client campaigns.
In 2016 we grew revenues by 40% to over £1m and every member of staff shared in that success with performance related bonuses well above the industry average. In the 2016 PR Week Top 150, only nine agencies beat our growth rate, most via acquisition.
Our agency is named after the Capella star, part of the Auriga constellation, which rather appropriately, is shaped like a quotation mark. After all, we’re in the business of getting our clients talked about – getting them the attention they deserve. The Capella star is one of the very brightest in the northern hemisphere: our ambition is that our agency always shines just as brightly in the industry.
