Team Capella was proud to support the third annual London Beach Rugby tournament London this weekend.
240 tonnes of sand were used to transform Finsbury Square into two rugby pitches, with 50 teams competing across the weekend to be crowned London Beach Rugby Champions 2015.
Our role was to pre-promote the event to drive awareness and team sign ups. We secured great coverage across lifestyle and rugby media, including Rugby World, Time Out, Shortlist, City AM, and Square Mile, helping ensure the event was a sell out.
Day one saw corporate rivals going head to head, and ambitious amateur teams took to the sand on the Saturday. Music was provided by Bombay Bicycle Club, with a pumping DJ set on the Saturday evening.
The event also featured England rugby legend Phil Vickery, who hand-picked and trained his own side to compete, as part of a national campaign with Sharp’s Brewery, the largest brewer of cask beer in the South West and sponsor of London Beach Rugby.
Over the two days London Beach Rugby also raised a huge amount of money for the chosen charity Help for Heroes.
We got down to the event to sample the amazing party atmosphere and enjoy one too many Doom Bars – one of the team even competed in day two. We’ll definitely be back next year!
